On 24th October BroadEU.Net was invited to participate in CERIS workshop on Secure Communication organized by DG HOME. BroadEU.Net Coordinator David Lund was invited to share how the programme is working towards contributing to the realization of the European Critical Communication System (EUCCS) in the dedicated panel EUCCS 1.0 (2030). David was joined in the discussions by fellow panelists from industry and End Users from Frederik Ryberd (Swedish Police Authority), Charlotte Roesener (Frequentis AG), Renaud Mellies (ACMOSS), Yve Van Tente (Airbud), Massimo Lenzi (Leonardo).
The event was organized how the European Commission is working with Member States to establish the EUCCS to connect communication networks of all public law enforcement,
civil protection, and safety responders in Europe by 2030 to allow for seamless critical
communication and operational mobility across the Schengen area. This mandate has been reinforced by the Political Guidelines of the newly elected European Commission, chaired by President Von der Leyen,
highlighting EUCCS as a key goal. The CERIS workshop was an opportunity for Member States’ experts and industry representatives to discuss the policy initiative for the EUCCS as well as further security and resilience aspects and future technologies for secure communications.
