Testbed

Objectives of the Testbed

EUCCS Preparation seeks connectivity innovation by bringing an iterative conversation between technological, operational procedures, and testing.

The EUCCS Testbeds

EUCCS Preparation approach is to procure mission critical mobile broadband testbeds that are operated at the national level. Previously, pilots were fully controlled by the developers and buyers did not have an opportunity to engage the operation of these. In EUCCS Preparation, practitioners are able to:

  • drive the operation of the testbeds,
  • use them for their own investigation into MCX technologies.

The Components of the EUCCS Prep Testbed

The EUCCS Preparation testbeds and trials iterative development is carried out through four activities:

  • Procurement of MCX servers, devices and applications – enabling nationally managed, pan-European connected MCX services.
  • Technical validation and maturity – testing of the technical solution, provide feedback to contractors to improve and build technical maturity in the technology.
  • Practitioner Evaluation – evaluation of the utility of the MCX devices, applications and services
  • Operational procedures – develop new operational procedures that will be necessary for cross border and pan-European cooperation.

Our Planned Work Ahead

Once the MCX testbed are interconnected and functional we then integrate directly into mobile core networks and optimize quality priority pre-emption and seamless roaming.

Further connectivity solutions will be integrated to increase resilience. For example, satellite coverage, deployables, and sidelink (e.g. Device-to-device)
