David Lund, Board member of PSCE and EUCCS Preparation Coordinator gave an interview to CNN on 28/04/2025.
David discussed the impact of the widespread power outage that affected Spain and Portugal and highlighted the crucial role of critical communication systems for emergency services. He explained what it is like when everything, phone networks and traffic systems collapse all at once.
The blackout that hit the Western part of Europe is a clear demonstration of why Europe is investing in a critical communication network, enabling emergency responders to share secure voice and data across borders. Under the EU’ internal security strategy, EUCCS Preparation is scheduled to be established by 2030. In the interview, David Lund emphasized the importance of resilient emergency communication networks that continue to function during power failures.
