On 19th November, BroadEU.Net Coordinator PSCE had the opportunity to present the EUCCS initiative in Bern at the meeting of the Swiss Federal Commission for Telematics in the Rescue and Security domain. The exchange on the current European landscape in telecommunication and its development is particularly important considering that the current Swiss secure communication system for Public Safety (Polycom) is scheduled to end in 2035.
During the session, a decision was made from the Federal Council decided that the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports (DDPS) to launch a project aiming at establishing a new secure mobile communication system. This new system should enable secure mobile voice communication as well as the transmission of images, data, and videos.
